Mariborsko Pohorje

One more set of photos from Slovenia :)
The last day we went around my city and took a gondola to the top of our low mountain called Pohorje which is the largest winter sports tourist center here and has one of the best ski slopes in Slovenia. At the end of January we are usually hosting FIS Ski World Cup for women and over the summer it's beautiful place for hiking or cycling over the slopes.

Doing sprints up hill...

And some workouts in the gym...

We also enjoyed the culinary delights of our country

Predjama Castle

After the cave we went to see the mysterious and impregnable renaissance castle which has been perched up in the middle of high cliff for more than 700 years. Predjama (the name means "Castle in from of the cave" in Slovenian) castle is built into an overhanging rock in front of a karst cave hall that is connected with a cave system underneath the castle.

According to the legend we even had local Robin Hood in the 15th century, called Erazem Jamski. Actually he was well-known robber baron in the region. When the Austrians decided to besiege the castle and starve him to death he was throwing fresh cherries and fried beef down from the castle after one year of being in there as there are many caves, holes and hidden rows that lead outside.
Unfortunately he died while sitting on the toilet; he was betrayed by a man who light a candle in the room he was in. A single cannon ball was launched and the knight was caught with his pants down...

Visiting Postojna Cave

As I decided to do my preps only at home, my friend from US visited me during the hot summer. We had few days to check a little bit of nature's beauty around here, so here is the first part of the photo blog from our sightseeing time.

The visit of our biggest Postojna cave, which is one of the world's largest karst monuments, on the day when temperatures went over 38°C was very refreshing as we were chilling on 9°C down under. We started with thrilling underground open air train ride which took us from cavern after cavern and helped to explore part of the 21-kilometer cave system. The cave has a unique ecosystem, a home to strange blind creatures that have never seen sunlight. A bit scary and very exciting visit!

Vacation time back in July

I was happy to take my parents to Croatian seaside for a great vacation. The weather was perfect, water refreshing so I enjoyed my time getting tan, did lot of snorkeling and playing around with flippers to swim as fast at possible :) Here are few shots...
